Moraira, to the north of Calpe, South of Javea and 120km south of Valencia, has grown from a small fishing village to an attractive holiday and retirement resort. It has a small and colourful main street, a large and beautiful marina, excellent variety of local shops, weekly open markets, harbour-side fish restaurants and bars and still retains its Spanish character.

The area has beautiful sandy beaches like El Portet, L'Ampolla and Plagetes, as well as tiny rocky coves with clear blue water. Moraira is ideal for those who love to sale and enjoy all water sports with a modern yacht club and scuba dive centres.

Leaving Moraira and heading directly inland, you will find yourself on the road to Teulada, located 6 km from the coast. Along this route there are wonderful views over the vineyards as well as almond and olive tree orchards, which cover the undulating slopes of the mountains facing the sea.

The area is dotted with 'riu-rau' houses, the typical farmhouses of the area with columned patios where grapes are dried and the old way of life is still very much alive. The area produces delicious grapes that make an excellent muscatel wine and superb raisins.
